Colorful Ribbons and Wagging Tails! The New Second Chance Adoption Centre at Sarjapur is now open! – 12 March 2018

It was a day we had all been looking forward to…the inauguration of the sparkling new CUPA Second Chance Adoption Centre. The much smaller centre that we had before was riddled with problems like space constraints and frequent flooding during the rains. After facing its own set of challenges, the new centre off Sarjapur Road, spread across two acres, is now up and running. Fresh air, wide open spaces, crispy blue skies and nearly 80 happy dogs that are waiting eagerly for their forever homes!

Despite the hot afternoon sun, spirits were high as the occasion was kicked off by the President Dr. Shiela Rao’s welcome address and introduction to CUPAs heritage. Mrs Sandhya Madappa gave the guests present a quick glimpse into the workings of the new centre and why it was such a dire need. The trustees then presented lovely tokens of appreciation to our donors whose generosity made this dream a reality.

One such donor is Sonata Software. Their Corporate Social Responsibility Program has supported CUPA’s Animal Welfare initiatives like this expansion of our Rescue & Rehabilitation centre for abandoned dogs and the setting up of an Animal Birth Control and Rabies eradication unit at the Centre. Sonata has funded a significant portion of the construction cost and this is a wonderful way of expressing their solidarity towards the pressing need for practicing compassion and care for other living beings. With timely support like this, many needy dogs who have no one else to turn to, are able to literally have a Second Chance at life.

Delicious cakes for the gathering as well as for our four-legged residents, were cut to celebrate the day, followed by sumptuous snacks and tea. The signature K.C. Das desserts were also part of the wonderful spread…a special Thank you to our Trustee Mr Biren Das for his gracious gesture.

After the blue ribbon was officially cut by our Donor, the upbeat mood was further enhanced as guests then explored this thoughtfully-designed facility and got to meet its very vocal, tail-wagging residents. The Trustees and staff of CUPA Second Chance Adoption Centre have worked hard for many months to make this day a success and we applaud their steadfast efforts.

A heartfelt Thank you to all our supporters who made this milestone possible and we look forward to achieving many more landmarks in the future.
